[ARCHIVED] Village receives $250,000 grant to upgrade sports lighting at Village Center Ballfield Complex

Musco Sports Lighting is the manufacturer of the Sportscluster Green™ System of ballfield lighting that will reduce the amount of fixtures needed to illuminate the playing areas from 124 fixtures to 86 while providing even better lighting for our participants. The reduced amount of fixtures will save an estimated $75,000 over a 10-year period. These lights will also be fully automated and can be turned on and off remotely using either a phone-in service or utilizing the internet. The contract also includes 24-hour monitoring and 1 full re-lamp during the first 10 years of operation.

We have utilized this Vendor before for the Major Field Relighting Project that was completed in 2009 utilizing grant funds from Palm Beach County. This $250,000 grant is money that was originally part of the Economic Stimulus Package that President Obama earmarked for energy efficiency projects. There is no matching requirement for this grant. This project must be completed by August 30th, 2013, which is a very manageable timetable for the Village, the vendor, and the electrical subcontractor who will be installing the fixtures and control panel.
