Insert your property address on the
Flood Zone Map application.
If the flood zone includes your house, flood insurance is mandatory.
If the flood zone falls within your lot, but does not include the house, additional information such as the elevation certificate or as-built survey with finished flood elevation of the structure may demonstrate that flood insurance is not required.
Flood insurance is always recommended, even if you are not within a flood zone, because homeowners policies do not cover flooding from unusual storm events.
The new flood maps become effective October 5, 2017 for flood insurance purposes.
