IMG_0552.JPG

Vice Mayor Sergio Escalada, on behalf of Mayor Bev Smith, read a Proclamation proclaiming October 15th as White Cane Safety Day in Palm Springs. Legally blind pedestrians crossed Dolan Road and Congress Avenue with officers watching and issuing citations when necessary to educate the public about the importance of the white cane law and the traffic regulations to assist blind persons. The Florida Outreach Center for the Blind also hosts "Dining in the Dark" which helps raise funds and awareness for individuals who are visually impaired. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 25th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the West Palm Beach Airport Hilton. For more information, please call (561) 642-0005
